Registration is open for Fall Season and our new apparel sale is live!
As we start this season, we want to take a moment and thank all of the parents for allowing their children to play. We are excited about this season and hope your kids are too! STYS’ primary goal for the season is for everyone to have fun and improve their soccer skills. Our basic philosophy is to foster a positive, fun, supportive atmosphere so that every player has a great experience. Regardless of ability, every member of every team deserves to be treated with respect and encouraged. Players should respect each other on and off the field. We look to you to help reinforce these important concepts. When you come to games and practices, please limit your interaction with your children to positive encouragement. During games, please respect the refs, coaches, players, and parents with the respect they deserve. We are our children’s most important role models. We will set as good an example as we possibly can, and we would greatly appreciate your help by doing the same.
PLEASE REMEMBER WE ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS WITH FULL TIME JOBS AND CANNOT ANSWER CALLS/TEXTS/MESSAGES IMMEDIATELY!
There will be a safety line for spectators, please do NOT cross this line. Also, please be sure younger children stay off of the fields for their safety and the safety of the players. Please CLEAN UP ALL TRASH. We need to appreciate the game area we are provided.
Due to having difficulty filling the coach, assistant coach and referee volunteer positions, we the board will be reevaluating if we are able to continue to have STYS in the future.
Practices:
Will be determined by the coaches. Coaches mostly use text messages or our STYS Facebook page for announcements.
Games:
Our games will be held here at the Covington Community Center on Mondays and Thursdays except for TUESDAY after Labor Day. There are two game nights where the U12 team will have a double header and a couple of nights there is only one U6 game. If your child cannot make it to a game or practice, please let the coach know in advance. A blanket (U6) or bench (U9 and U12) will be on the ground for all players to sit on if they are not out on the field playing. Encourage your children to sit on the blanket or bench and cheer for their team! During games please stay away from the goals and players side of the field.
PARKING:
Due to the number of players, we ask each family limit the number of vehicles at the CCC to one per family. You can drop your child off for practice or game and then go park at the Covington Baptist Church where there is plenty of parking. Please LIMIT the on street parking due to traffic and children darting between cars and be respective of people’s property.
There is a strict ONE vehicle per family, including extended family members, is permitted in the CCC parking area. When parking on adjacent roads, avoid blocking driveways and respect the surrounding properties. You and others need to be able to see to pull in and out. DO NOT trespass or litter on anyone’s property.
PARKING SPOTS WITH YELLOW LINES:
These spots are for Board and Sub-Board Members ONLY. DO NOT PARK within the yellow lines for practices or games.
PARKING SPOTS WITH WHITE LINES:
Are the designated spectator parking spots
PARKING SPOTS WITH Handicap Signs:
Are designated for individuals with an authorized handicap placard and/or license plate.
NO PARKING ZONE:
There is strict NO PARKING allowed around the pole in the middle of the parking lot (picture below). This will allow unobstructed access and easy maneuverability for traffic and EMS crews. Do not park on the right side of the driveway when coming in. Only park in the spaces on the right side heading out. If you do not have a handicap hanger or plate, never park in the blue painted spots.
Cancellation:
Unless you hear otherwise, we will have practice or games. In the case of cancellation, you will be notified by your coach and it will be posted on the STYS Facebook page. Cancellations are made around 3:00 for game days.
Must Bring to Practices and Games:
Please make sure that your child has a personalized water bottle, soccer ball (for practices), cleats or sneakers, shin guards, and their complete provided uniform on game days. Uniforms are for games only. They are not to be worn during practice. Please write your child’s name on the soccer ball and water bottle. If the player is not wearing correct uniform, they will not be playing in the game. On colder nights the uniform must be the outer most layer. We have spare shin guards at the field if needed for a game.
Donation Nights:
Each team will be provided a night. They can be store bought or pre-made. They must be prepackaged. Snacks containing common allergens such as nuts must be listed. The bake sale items are to be taken to the snack shack. If you don’t want to purchase a snack, we do accept monetary donations.
Captain:
Every player is given an opportunity to be captain. They can spend up to one dollar at the concession stand the night that their coach designates them to be captain.
Picture Day:
Individual pictures will be taken. We also do sibling pictures. Dates to be determined.
Fundraisers:
Our organization runs on a limited budget. As you can see, we try to keep equipment in very good condition for each season. Our fundraisers support this. During the fall season our main fundraiser will be a chicken BBQ on Sept. 7th. Watch Facebook for more information or your coach may be distributing a message about the ticket sale for the Chicken BBQ. Apparel Fundraising will be announced soon. We are in need of a Fundraiser Coordinator.
We’re looking forward to a great season of soccer. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask either a Board Member, Sub-Board Member.
